Ten people were killed in Karachi on Sunday after violent clashes broke out between protesters and security forces near the United States Consulate on Mai Kolachi Road.
The protests were part of nationwide demonstrations held in response to the recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. Large crowds gathered in the area to express anger, which later turned into unrest as tensions escalated.
According to Dr. Mohammad Sabir Memon, Executive Director of the Trauma Centre at Civil Hospital Karachi, a total of 10 people lost their lives during the incident, while 31 others were injured.
Hospital officials confirmed that all the injured individuals suffered gunshot wounds and were immediately provided medical treatment. Emergency services remained active throughout the situation, transferring victims to nearby hospitals.
Witnesses reported chaos in the area as protesters attempted to move toward restricted zones near the consulate. Law enforcement agencies responded by taking crowd-control measures to restore order.
In an official statement, the Edhi Foundation said that security personnel used tear gas and baton charges to disperse the protesters and prevent further violence.
Authorities temporarily closed surrounding roads and increased security across sensitive locations in the city. Officials urged citizens to remain peaceful and avoid protest areas.
The incident highlights rising tensions and public anger following recent developments in the Middle East, as authorities continue efforts to maintain stability and prevent further unrest.
