On the day when Talib*an took over, PIA flight evacuated 1460 passengers in a crisis situation. The flight had several diplomats and foreign nationals from Kabul under its Humanitarian mission, showing professionalism for which PIA his being praised all over the globe.
Over mismanagement, political appointments, nepotism, corruption, fake pilots, licenses and etc. the PIA has for decades received criticism but is now receiving praise from international community due to the decision the captain of the flight took after the fall of Kabul.
A ban was imposed on PIA by European Union of operating its flights in Europe also acknowledged the professionalism shown by PIA, the national flag carrier and asked the airline to provide flight to 420 employees of EU delegation In Kabul and their dependents on humanitarian ground but PIA could not be of any help due to hold on PIA flights following the ground issues.
Efforts of Pakistan were acknowledged and praised by managing director of IMF named, Kristalina Georgieva in her tweet and thanked PIA for evacuating IMF staff and their families safely. She said in her tweet, “special thanks to Imran Khan for Pakistan’s help in difficult circumstances. Pakistan’s efforts were absolutely critical to the smooth and safe evacuation of IMF staff and their families.”
