The Punjab government has introduced its first e-taxi scheme as part of Transport Vision 2030. Under this program, 1,100 electric taxis will be added to the roads to encourage eco-friendly transport in urban areas. The goal is to reduce air pollution, lower fuel costs, and create more job opportunities for citizens.
People interested in becoming part of this scheme can apply online until October 5, 2025. To make it easier for applicants, the government is offering support through subsidized down payments and by covering all interest payments.
Partner banks will finance the rest of the amount, helping drivers and entrepreneurs get access to vehicles more smoothly.
According to the plan, vehicles priced between 4 million and 10 million PKR will be eligible for a down payment subsidy of 585,000 PKR. This makes electric taxis more affordable and supports the government’s efforts to shift toward clean energy in the transport sector.
At the same time, Pakistan has introduced its first AI-powered teacher, “Aini,” which reflects the country’s growing interest in technology and innovation. Additionally, a financing plan for electric vehicles has also been approved, giving further support to sustainable transport initiatives.
This new e-taxi scheme is seen as a major step toward building a cleaner, greener, and more modern transport system in Punjab, aligning with global trends in sustainable mobility.
