178 Lives Lost, 491 Injured in Monsoon Rains Across Pakistan

Between June 26 and July 17, 2025, heavy monsoon rains and sudden floods have caused a lot of damage in Pakistan. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), these rains and floods have taken 178 lives and left 491 people injured across the country.

Punjab has suffered the most, with 103 people losing their lives due to the rains and floods. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is next with 38 deaths, followed by Sindh with 20, and Balochistan with 16. The situation has been getting worse, as in just the last 24 hours alone, 54 more people have died and 227 have been injured because of the severe weather.

The main reasons behind these tragedies are flash floods, buildings falling down, and other dangerous incidents linked to the heavy rains. Many houses and roads have been damaged, making it harder for rescue teams to reach people in need.

Authorities are urging people to stay alert and avoid risky areas, especially near rivers and streams that can flood suddenly. Rescue teams are working round the clock to help people trapped by the floods and to provide medical aid to the injured.

People living in affected areas are advised to follow safety instructions, move to safer places if needed, and stay in touch with local authorities for any help.

The government and disaster management teams are trying their best to control the situation and protect lives. However, the heavy monsoon season continues to be a big challenge for many communities across Pakistan.
