Due to severe snowfall and a tourist rush, the situation in Murree has deteriorated, with 16 to 19 persons apparently dead in their automobiles due to the cold, according to Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmad.
According to sources in the Punjab government’s control room for monitoring the situation in Murree, more than 100,000 tourist cars entered the city, while the city’s power supply has been cut off since previous night due to the severe weather. Tourists are locked in automobiles with children, according to sources, and they don’t even have food or drink.
In a video message, Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmad stated that the administration has requested the assistance of the Armed Forces to evacuate tourists and open roadways for traffic.
