234 Pakistanis Died in Rain-Related Incidents & Flash Floods in Almost 1 Month

Since June 26, heavy monsoon rains and flash floods have caused major damage across Pakistan. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), these rains have taken 234 lives, injured 596 people, and damaged more than 800 homes so far.

In just the past 24 hours, 12 more people have sadly lost their lives, including eight children. Rescue teams have carried out over 62 operations, saving around 450 people who were trapped by floodwaters or landslides. To help affected families, 27 relief camps have been set up, providing shelter, food, and medical aid.

One of the worst-hit areas is Babusar, where a deadly cloudburst killed five people, four of whom were tourists. Many people are still missing in that region as search operations continue. Besides the tragic loss of lives, the floods have also killed livestock, destroyed roads and bridges, and forced many families to leave their homes and belongings behind.

The NDMA has warned that more rain, flash floods, and Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the coming days. People living in these areas or planning to travel are advised to stay alert and avoid unnecessary trips to risky places.

Authorities are urging everyone to follow weather updates, cooperate with rescue teams, and move to safe areas if asked. Staying prepared and careful can help save lives during this dangerous monsoon season.
