Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero MotoCorp announced that it has received more than 25,000 orders for the world’s most affordable Harley Davidson motorcycle. This news boosted the company’s shares by over 3%.
Hero MotoCorp stated that 65% of the bookings were for the premium version of the Harley Davidson X440, which is priced at 269,000 rupees. The company, known as the largest motorcycle maker globally in terms of sales, revealed its plan to start producing the X440 in September and begin delivering the motorcycles in October.
Earlier this month, Hero increased the prices of its bike models by 10,500 rupees ($126.8). This decision followed Harley Davidson’s CEO’s statement that the pre-orders for the new model had surpassed the company’s expectations.
Harley Davidson collaborated with Hero to design and sell a series of branded motorcycles in India, starting with the X440. This partnership emerged after Harley Davidson withdrew from the Indian market and closed most of its local dealerships in 2020.
