On December 3, 1992, Neil Papworth, a 22-year-old British programmer, sent the world’s first Short Message Service (SMS) from a computer to his colleague Richard Jarvis.
Now, Vodafone plans to auction this historic SMS as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT).
The SMS, which read ‘Merry Christmas,’ was sent from Newbury, Berkshire, where Papworth worked as a developer and test engineer for Vodafone.
The auction, taking place in Paris, is expected to fetch more than £150,000.
