4.6-Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Parts of Swat and Surrounding Areas

A 4.6-magnitude earthquake hit Swat, including the city of Mingora, on Saturday morning, as confirmed by the National Seismic Monitoring Centre. The earthquake’s epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range and struck at a depth of 64 kilometers beneath the ground.

The sudden tremors caused fear and panic among local residents. Many people rushed out of their homes, leaving buildings and houses in a hurry to stay safe. Although the shaking was strong enough to be felt across the region, there were no immediate reports of injuries or property damage, which came as a relief to the people.

The earthquake was not limited to Swat alone. Its effects were also felt in nearby countries, including Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan. The Hindu Kush region is known for its frequent seismic activity, and earthquakes are not uncommon in this area.

People in the affected areas have been urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions in case of aftershocks. Emergency teams and monitoring centers remain on standby, keeping an eye on the situation to respond quickly if needed.

Although this earthquake did not cause any serious damage, it served as a reminder of the importance of earthquake preparedness, especially in mountainous and earthquake-prone regions like Swat.

Local authorities have encouraged residents to check their homes for any minor cracks or issues that may have resulted from the tremor. Safety experts advise keeping emergency kits, knowing safe spots in homes, and practicing evacuation drills to stay prepared in future situations.

While the region escaped without harm this time, continued awareness and readiness are essential to protect lives in case of stronger quakes in the future. For now, life in Swat has returned to normal, but the memory of the shaking morning remains fresh in people’s minds.
