40 Million Liters of Zam Zam Water to be Distributed in Ramadan

An official has said that more than 20,000 positions have been set aside at the Grand Mosque, Islam’s holiest building in Saudi Arabia, to give more than 40 million litres of the sacred Zamzam water to worshippers during Ramadan starting next week.

At the Great Mosque in Mecca, umrah typically peaks during the month of Ramadan.

About 30,000 Zamzam containers have been placed throughout the site, according to Abdul Rahman Al Zahrany, head of the Zamzam department at the Grand Mosque, so that pilgrims can easily obtain the holy water.

“The directorate has recruited 1,423 personnel to ensure efficiency and quality services,” he was quoted as saying by the Saudi news agency SPA.

The General Presidency in charge of the site’s affairs has achieved a “quality leap” by using robots as well as 80 smart carts to provide access to Zamzam water throughout the mosque and its courtyard, home to the Holy Kaaba, according to the official.
