Thousands of volunteers have spent a total of about 45,000 hours helping pilgrims at the Masjid al-Haram during the holy month of Ramadan. Their work has played an important role in supporting the large number of worshippers visiting the mosque every day.
Volunteers helped organize prayer spaces so that pilgrims could perform their prayers in an orderly and peaceful environment. Since the mosque receives millions of visitors during Ramadan, managing the crowds becomes a major task. The volunteers guided people to available areas and ensured that walkways and entrances remained clear.
Another key service was the distribution of drinking water. Volunteers regularly handed out bottles of Zamzam water to worshippers across different sections of the mosque. This helped pilgrims stay hydrated, especially during long hours of worship and fasting.
Many volunteers also assisted elderly pilgrims and families by helping them move safely through the mosque’s large courtyards and prayer halls. Some helped people find lost family members or guided them to medical and service points when needed.
Religious authorities say such volunteer efforts show the spirit of cooperation and kindness that is often seen during Ramadan. People from different backgrounds come together to serve visitors who travel to Mecca for worship.
The dedication of these volunteers helps maintain order and comfort for pilgrims, making their spiritual experience at the Grand Mosque more peaceful and memorable.
