The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Pakistan has denied reports of a ban on Rs 5000 currency notes. A fake circular, dated September 7, 2023, circulated on social media, claiming the ban. The false notice said that starting from September 30, 2023, Rs 5000 notes would be illegal.
However, the government has clarified that this information is false, and there is no such ban. They will also run an awareness campaign to inform people about this fake news and the correct procedures for exchanging or depositing Rs 5000 notes.
