Cold winds swept across Karachi on Thursday morning, heralding the onset of a severe cold wave.
The city’s temperature dropped to 17 degrees Celsius, with winds blowing at 35 kilometers per hour.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts that the temperature in Karachi will hover between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius in the coming days, accompanied by winds of 35 to 40 kilometers per hour.
PMD had earlier predicted a fall in temperature in Karachi and other parts of the province between January 12 and 17, with temperatures possibly reaching as low as 5 degrees Celsius.
The cold weather is attributed to westerly winds entering the region.
