A new transportation method of utilizing low-altitude “air taxis” has gained traction in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, as this tech-savvy hub pioneers innovative ways to stimulate the aerospace economic revival.
With air taxis, travel time for a 40-kilometer road journey is shortened to just 10 minutes, down from 40-60 minutes.
Shenzhen has made the concept of “flying” over congested roads into reality by taking advantage of favorable police measures and low-altitude air transportation technology. In 2023, a major low-altitude general aviation carrier and helicopter service provider based in Shenzhen has so far completed over 5,000 flights, carrying over 10,000 passengers, and operating over 100 routes.
