This is the Pop-up Hotel in Wales that Disappears After You Leave

In the inaugural episode of Channel 4’s series “Cabin Fever,” the spotlight was on Wales’s pioneering ‘disappearing’ hotel known as Epic Retreats. The television program documents the creative journey of eight architectural teams tasked with designing bespoke glamping units for this unique pop-up hotel, scheduled to make appearances at three picturesque locations in Wales from June to September.

The project was conceived as part of the celebrations for Wales’s Year of Legends in 2017, and it beckoned architects of international renown to craft cabins inspired by Welsh mythology, tradition, and natural beauty.

The resulting accommodations are a testament to the diverse themes, incorporating elements like a dragon’s eye, reflections of the country’s historic slate-mining industry, and narratives from the legends of King Arthur.

With the exclusivity factor in mind, the project made available fewer than 200 bookings, promising a distinctive and upscale glamping experience for those fortunate enough to secure a reservation.

The concept of a ‘disappearing’ hotel adds an intriguing element to the project, emphasizing its temporary nature and the transient existence of these unique glamping units. The structures are designed to be set up at three distinct natural beauty spots in Wales, creating a sense of adventure and discovery for those seeking an extraordinary escape.

The Epic Retreats combinesyg architecture, design, and the allure of Welsh mythology to provide a limited number of guests with a one-of-a-kind glamping experience against the backdrop of Wales’s stunning landscapes. The series “Cabin Fever” serves as a platform to unravel the stories behind each architectural creation, offering viewers insights into the fusion of creativity, nature, and the quest for a truly exceptional lodging experience.
