‘I Will Talk to Mohammad Amir if He’s Available to Come Back for Pakistan Once Again’, Shaheen Afridi

Pakistan’s T20I captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, engaged with fans in a recent X Space session, providing insights into the possibility of former teammate Mohammad Amir returning to the national team.

Currently playing together for the IlT20 side Desert Vipers, Afridi expressed his openness to discussing Amir’s potential comeback.

During the X Space session, Afridi stated, “I will talk to Mohammad Amir if he’s available to come back for Pakistan once again. Amir and I bowled together after almost 5 years. It was a very good experience to bowl with him; our partnership was great.”

Amir, who retired from international cricket in 2020, citing issues with the head coach and bowling coach, has consistently maintained that he has “moved on” from international cricket. Despite fan appeals for him to reconsider, Amir has emphasized his focus on different priorities in his life.

In an earlier press conference, Amir noted the challenges of making a comeback after a three-year absence from the international system, given the frequent changes in the Pakistan cricket setup. He stated that, for him, the debate on returning is closed, at least for now.

However, speculation persists about a potential return, especially considering Amir’s strong relationship with Shaheen Afridi and the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Amir’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s cricket history, including being part of the winning ICC T20 World Cup 2009 and ICC Champions Trophy 2017 teams, add intrigue to discussions about a possible comeback.

While Amir has consistently expressed his reluctance to return, the close bond between him and Afridi, coupled with the significance of the T20 World Cup, leaves room for speculation about a potential comeback, even though Amir’s stance on the matter remains firm for the time being.
