Today, Pakistan is having its biggest election ever. More than 128 million people are taking part in voting all over the country.
In this election, people are voting for candidates in 855 national and four provincial assembly areas. There are a lot of candidates to choose from—over 17,000! Among them, there are 882 women and four eunuchs, which is a lot.
There are a ton of places to vote, too. Across the country, there are about 90,000 polling stations. Some of these stations are extra important because they are sensitive to security issues. There are over 27,000 of these sensitive stations, and even more—18,000—are considered highly sensitive. To make sure everything goes smoothly, there are about half a million security personnel helping out. This includes the police, paramilitary forces, and the Quick Response Force from the Pakistan Army.
So, with so many people voting, so many candidates to choose from, and so many places to vote, it’s a huge day for Pakistan.
