Zuckerberg Loses $3 Billion After Facebook & Instagram Global Outage

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, faced a significant loss of nearly $3 billion in just one day following a global outage of Facebook and Instagram. Despite this loss, Zuckerberg remains the fourth richest person globally, with a total net worth of $176 billion. The outage led to a decline of 1.6% in Meta’s shares, causing Zuckerberg’s wealth to decrease.

On Tuesday night, users worldwide experienced difficulties accessing Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and even Meta Quest VR headsets. Some YouTube users also encountered issues with the platform. The disruption lasted for approximately an hour before services returned to normal.

During the outage, users encountered error messages on Instagram and Facebook, while others were automatically logged out of their accounts. Despite the challenges, many users shared their experiences and frustrations on various platforms, including X. Elon Musk, the owner of X, took the opportunity to jest at Meta’s expense, humorously suggesting that if users could view his post, it indicated that X’s servers were functioning correctly.
