Cricket Pakistan received information from Watson’s close sources that he was seriously thinking about the offer and was waiting for a formal agreement. But now, things have changed.
ESPNcricinfo reported that Shane Watson has decided not to become Pakistan’s limited-overs head coach, even though the PCB wanted him for the job.
The PCB offered Watson a good salary, which got him interested in coaching the Pakistani team. At first, he was unsure because of his family, but later, he said he would do it if he got a lot of money. Surprisingly, the PCB agreed and offered him $2 million per year, which is a lot of money.
People close to Watson told Cricket Pakistan that he was thinking about the offer and waiting for a formal agreement. But now, he has changed his mind.
Watson wants to focus on his current coaching and commentary jobs for now. After coaching the Quetta Gladiators in PSL 9, he will work as a commentator for the IPL. He will also keep coaching the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket. He said that his family and living in Sydney are important to him, so he decided not to take the job with Pakistan.
