The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is urging an immediate truce between Israel and the Palestinian organization in Gaza, as well as the release of all hostages.
The resolution, proposed by ten elected members of the council, received support from the other fourteen council members. After the vote on Monday, there was applause in the council chamber.
The resolution requests a ceasefire during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which concludes in two weeks. Additionally, it demands the release of all hostages taken in southern Israel on October 7.
