Former Pakistani cricket star Wasim Akram will be mentoring Sri Lanka’s bowlers as they gear up for the T20 World Cup 2024. Akram, known for his amazing bowling skills, is in Sri Lanka for a two-day training camp arranged by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
With over 900 international wickets under his belt, Akram brings a wealth of experience to his coaching role. He has coached teams in big tournaments like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) before.
During his time with the team, Akram will hold five training sessions. These sessions will benefit not only the national players but also the coaches from major clubs and the SLC High Performance Coaches. His goal is to boost the bowling skills of the Sri Lankan team ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
In the 2022 T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka didn’t perform as well as they hoped, getting knocked out in the group stage after winning just two out of five matches. But they’ve shown they have what it takes to win, like in the 2014 T20 World Cup final against Team India.
