Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Ministry of Education has introduced a new Rs4 billion scholarship program aimed at supporting talented students who are financially needy throughout Pakistan.
In addition, the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training (MFEPT) has committed a total of Rs8.5 billion to improve education standards in Islamabad. This initiative, known as the “Provision of Basic (Missing) Educational Facilities in Educational Institutions of ICT,” targets both rural and urban areas within the capital. The project is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2025.
Secretary of MFEPT, Mohyudin Wani, provided details on the funding allocations: “The total Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) portfolio for the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training amounts to Rs8.5 billion. Out of this, Rs5.4 billion is dedicated to basic education, while Rs3.1 billion is allocated for technical education.”
Part of this ambitious program includes the establishment of the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) with an initial investment of Rs4 billion, a key component of the Prime Minister’s initiatives to support education.
The scholarship program is specifically designed to help students who show great academic potential but lack the financial resources to pursue higher education. This program will ensure that talented students from across the country can access the education they need to succeed.
