Haramain High Speed Railway Transports Over 1 Million Passengers During Hajj Season

The Haramain High Speed Railway transported over 1.07 million passengers during the 1445 AH Hajj season, marking a 42% increase from the previous year. The Saudi Railways Company (SAR) successfully operated 3,895 trips with an impressive 98% on-time arrival rate.

The number of trips between Makkah and Madinah increased, including stops at Jeddah’s main station, King Abdulaziz Airport, and King Abdullah Economic City.

On the peak day of Dhu Al-Hijjah, 13,131 trips were conducted, with trains departing every 15 minutes from Makkah. This ensured that the vast number of pilgrims could be transported efficiently and comfortably.

SAR’s initiative, in collaboration with its partners, allowed pilgrims to travel luggage-free from King Abdulaziz Airport to Makkah. This service significantly eased the travel experience for pilgrims, making their journey more convenient and hassle-free.

The collaboration aimed to streamline the travel process, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall experience for pilgrims during the Hajj season.

The significant increase in the number of passengers transported and the high on-time arrival rate reflect the efficiency and reliability of the Haramain High Speed Railway.

SAR’s commitment to providing a seamless travel experience for pilgrims is evident in the successful execution of this initiative. The railway’s ability to handle such a large volume of passengers while maintaining punctuality underscores its role as a critical component in the logistics of the Hajj pilgrimage.

The enhancements in the rail service and the introduction of new initiatives like the luggage-free travel option highlight SAR’s dedication to continuous improvement and innovation.

This progress not only benefits the pilgrims but also demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving infrastructure and services to accommodate the growing number of visitors during the Hajj season.
