The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Karachi starting after July 20, following a spell of hot weather with occasional showers.
Recently, Karachi saw significant rain in areas like Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, which led to flooding and disrupted traffic. Despite today’s forecast for hot and humid conditions with a chance of rain in some areas, temperatures are expected to range from 35°C to 37°C with high humidity levels.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz explained that the low air pressure causing the recent rains has moved towards Oman. However, local cloud formation due to the heat may still bring intermittent rain. The city has been experiencing a mix of weather conditions, with residents bracing for more heavy downpours expected later this month.
Karachi’s infrastructure has struggled to cope with the heavy rain, leading to waterlogged streets and traffic chaos. The authorities are on high alert to manage potential flooding and ensure public safety. As temperatures remain high, the combination of heat and humidity has made daily life challenging for residents.
The PMD continues to monitor the weather patterns closely and urges people to stay updated with the latest forecasts.
Residents are advised to take precautions during the hot and humid days, stay hydrated, and be prepared for the upcoming heavy rainfall.
The authorities are working to improve drainage systems and mitigate the impact of the rain on the city’s infrastructure. As the weather continues to change, staying informed and prepared will help the people of Karachi navigate these challenging conditions.
