Punjab Government Slashes Electricity Bills by Rs 14 Per Unit for Consumers Using Up to 500 Units

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, has announced a new relief package to help electricity consumers in Punjab. For August and September, those using up to 500 units of electricity will see a discount of Rs. 14 per unit on their bills.

The government has set aside Rs. 45 billion for this relief effort, which aims to ease the financial burden on consumers during the hot summer months when electricity usage is high. In addition, the Punjab government is investing Rs. 700 billion in a solar energy program designed to benefit the middle class by making energy more affordable.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the package, calling it a significant example of a people-focused initiative by Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. This decision is expected to help millions of people across Punjab by reducing their electricity costs and supporting the adoption of renewable energy.
