PCB Announces Women’s T20 World Cup Squad, Fatima sana Replaces Nida Dar as Pakistan’s Captain

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, selecting bowling all-rounder Fatima Sana as the new captain for the tournament. This prestigious women’s cricket competition is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this October. Originally scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, the event was relocated to the UAE due to the ongoing political situation in Bangladesh.

In their announcement, the PCB revealed that Fatima Sana will lead the team, taking over the captaincy from the seasoned Nida Dar. Nida Dar has been a key player for Pakistan, with a wealth of experience, having played 112 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 153 T20 Internationals (T20Is) over her impressive career. Her leadership and contributions have been invaluable to the team, but the PCB has decided to hand the captaincy to the younger Fatima Sana for this World Cup.

The PCB made it clear that the decision to appoint Fatima Sana as captain was unanimous among the women’s national selection committee. They expressed confidence in her ability to lead the team in this major international tournament, which will run from October 3 to October 20 in the UAE. As the team prepares to compete against the world’s best, Fatima Sana’s leadership will be pivotal in guiding Pakistan’s women’s cricket team to success on this global stage.
