The Punjab government has announced the recruitment of 7,354 College Teaching Interns (CTIs) for government colleges across the province.
This new initiative is aimed at addressing the teaching staff shortage in educational institutions, ensuring quality education for students. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the recruitment process and emphasized the need for a fair and transparent hiring process for these positions.
In addition to the recruitment of CTIs, several other significant decisions were made in a recent cabinet meeting. These include amendments to the Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess Act 2015 and the delegation of leave and pension authority to district health and education officials. The government has also approved the appointments of a provincial drug inspector, government analyst, and Punjab caretaker ombudsman.
Furthermore, CM Nawaz underscored the importance of establishing the Punjab Enforcement & Regulatory Authority (PERA) to address rising artificial inflation and hoarding. Structural reforms are being introduced to enhance efficiency across various sectors.
Several key initiatives were also approved, including a special allowance for police officers in the Katcha area and a Rs500 million Endowment Fund to support writers’ welfare. The government also conditionally approved delegating sub-registrar powers to tehsildars and naib tehsildars, while plans for a special court for persons with disabilities were finalized.
Moreover, new members were appointed to the Gujranwala Development Authority, and a vice chairman for WASA Gujranwala was selected. In healthcare, funds were reallocated for upgrading tertiary care hospitals, along with changes to the land exchange policy.
With these new reforms, the Punjab government aims to enhance governance, improve public services, and foster educational growth across the province.
