Karachi is gearing up for the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024, which begins today at the Expo Centre and will run until November 22. To ensure smooth traffic management and enhanced security during the event, the Karachi Traffic Police have implemented a comprehensive traffic plan that includes road closures, diversions, and parking restrictions.
Several major routes around the Expo Centre and National Stadium will remain inaccessible from 7 am to 7 pm daily throughout the event. Roads such as the National Stadium Flyover, Stadium Road from Agha Khan University Hospital to Hassan Square, and the stretch from Stadium Signal to Hassan Square will be closed to all traffic.
Similarly, heavy and commercial vehicles will not be allowed on routes including Sharea Faisal to Karsaz Road, Millennium Mall to Stadium Road, NIPA to Hassan Square, and Jail Chowrangi to Hassan Square.
Alternate routes have been suggested for heavy vehicles, which are advised to use Shaheed-e-Millat Road or Teen Hatti instead of the restricted roads. For light vehicles, diversions will be in place, redirecting traffic to PPP Chowrangi and Shaheed-e-Millat Road. Additionally, Liaquatabad No. 10 traffic will be rerouted to facilitate movement around the event.
To maintain an orderly flow of traffic, parking on service and main roads near the event area has been strictly prohibited. The public is encouraged to use designated parking spaces and plan their travel routes accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the four-day exhibition. These measures aim to ensure the safety and convenience of residents and attendees alike.
