Among the over 1.57 billion 5G users globally, over half are from China, according to the World Internet Development Report 2024 released this week at the World Internet Conference held in Wuzhen, China.
By June 2024, China has built the world’s largest 5G network, with 889 million 5G mobile phone users, accounting for 52% of the world’s total. 5G is accessible to each county in China, with gigabit users taking up more than 70% of the world’s total, as per the report.
Meanwhile, breakthroughs in 6G have been made, with the first 6G field test network integrating communication and intelligence set up in China.
