Pakistan and Uzbekistan Set Trade Target at $1 Billion

Alisher Tukhtaev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, expressed hope about the growing trade between the two countries. He set an ambitious goal of reaching $1 billion in trade as an initial target.

Tukhtaev mentioned several important steps to strengthen cooperation in different sectors, build stronger industrial partnerships, and open up new trade opportunities. According to the Ambassador, bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Pakistan has been steadily increasing in recent years.

He highlighted that trade turnover between the two countries had grown significantly, almost four times, over the past five years. In 2019, the trade was valued at $122 million, and by the end of 2024, it is expected to exceed $400 million.

However, he believes that in order to achieve further success, both countries need to work together more closely in all areas, especially in industrial collaboration and creating new trade opportunities.

The Ambassador also stressed the importance of improving transportation and logistics infrastructure. He said that better connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan would help make trade more efficient and easier, benefiting both nations.

Tukhtaev’s remarks reflect Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening its trade relations with Pakistan, looking for ways to expand their business ties and reach new milestones in the years to come.
