Govt Reduces Electricity Price for EV Charging Station to Rs. 39.70 per Unit

The government has announced a major reduction in electricity rates for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, cutting the tariff by 45%. The new rate is Rs39.70 per unit, a significant decrease from the previous Rs71 per unit. This step is aimed at making EV charging more affordable and accessible for the public.

To further encourage the adoption of EVs, the government has streamlined the process for setting up EV charging stations and battery points. Approvals can now be obtained within just 15 days for a fee of Rs50,000 through NEECA’s one-window registration system.

These initiatives are part of a broader plan to promote the use of electric vehicles across the country, with an ambitious goal of achieving 30% EV adoption by the year 2030. The government is also working on additional measures to improve the EV market, reduce dependency on fuel imports, save billions in fuel costs, and create new business opportunities in this sector.

These steps reflect a strong commitment to energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and economic growth.
