PIA to Hire Engineers and Technicians on Daily Wages

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to hire staff on daily wages to address a shortage of workers caused by the recent resignation of a large number of engineers and technicians. This development comes after around 110 engineers and technicians left the airline, reportedly due to the government’s decision to privatize PIA.

In response to this situation, PIA’s engineering department has begun conducting interviews to recruit new employees. However, no final decisions have been made regarding the hiring of aircraft engineers. It’s worth noting that the last time PIA recruited engineers was back in 2016, which highlights the airline’s struggle to maintain its technical workforce.

At the same time, a delegation from the United Kingdom has arrived in Pakistan to assess the country’s aviation safety standards. This evaluation is a key requirement for restoring direct flight operations between Pakistan and the UK, which have been suspended for some time.

These developments underline the challenges PIA is currently facing, both in terms of maintaining its operations and meeting international safety requirements.
