Microsoft Reportedly in Talks to Acquire Tiktok, Trump Confirms

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that Microsoft is currently in discussions to purchase TikTok. This development comes amid rising concerns in the United States about national security risks linked to TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, which is based in China.

The U.S. government has raised alarms over the potential misuse of data collected from TikTok’s American users. To address these concerns, ByteDance has explored selling its U.S. operations in the past. Despite previous negotiations with companies like Microsoft and Oracle, no deal was finalized at that time.

Recently, interest in acquiring TikTok has been growing. Besides Microsoft, other potential buyers have come forward, including billionaire Frank McCourt, entrepreneur and investor Kevin O’Leary, and popular YouTuber MrBeast. Trump, while discussing the matter, expressed his desire to see a competitive bidding process. He emphasized the importance of removing Chinese ownership from TikTok’s U.S. operations, calling it a key step toward ensuring the platform’s security.

As of now, neither Microsoft nor TikTok has commented on these ongoing discussions, leaving many details of the potential deal uncertain.
