National Junior Chess Champion Mehak Maqbool Defeats Sindh CM Murad Ai Shah in Friendly Match

National junior chess champion Mehak Maqbool recently played a friendly chess match with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and won impressively in just 15 moves. The chief minister had invited Mehak, who is the under-18 national champion, to celebrate her recent achievements in chess.

Mehak recently took first place in the National Youth Chess Championship 2025 in the under-18 category. This tournament followed the official rules of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and will play an important role in selecting Pakistan’s youth chess team for upcoming international competitions.

During the event, Shehzad Roy, a well-known singer and social activist whose organization, Zindagi Trust, supports Mehak’s school, praised the chief minister’s initiative. He also highlighted Mehak’s confidence and remarkable chess skills.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who is an experienced chess player himself, was impressed by Mehak’s talent and dedication to the game. He acknowledged her hard work and wished her success in future competitions.

Mehak’s victory and recognition by the chief minister serve as an inspiration to young chess players and show the potential of Pakistan’s youth in competitive sports.
