Punjab to Add “Good Touch, Bad Touch” Awareness to School Curriculum

The Punjab Home Department has announced an important new step to protect children by including a “Good Touch, Bad Touch” awareness program in school curricula. This initiative aims to educate children from an early age about personal safety and help them understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate physical contact.

The program will include age-appropriate materials designed with the help of child protection experts, ensuring that the content is easy for children to understand. The goal is to teach children how to recognize unsafe situations and empower them to speak up if they experience or witness inappropriate behavior. Children will also be taught how to report incidents both at home and in public, giving them the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves.

This initiative is part of a larger campaign led by the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, aimed at safeguarding vulnerable children across the province. The program is designed not only to prevent child abuse but also to protect children from the long-term emotional and psychological harm that such abuse can cause.

By introducing this education early in life, the authorities hope to create a safer environment for children, allowing them to grow up with the confidence to speak out and protect themselves from harm.
