In a major cyberattack reportedly linked to Pakistani hackers, several critical Indian websites and government systems have been breached. The attack targeted sensitive institutions, including the Indian Department of Atomic Energy and portals related to Defence Production. Reports suggest that confidential data from these sites has been leaked and is now being sold on the dark web.
One of the major victims was the official website of Assam Rifles, which was hacked separately. Other major Indian agencies affected include the Border Security Forces (BSF), Crime Research Investigation Agency, Mahanagar Telecommunication, and Bharat Earth Movers.
Even major players in India’s defence and tech sectors, like Hindustan Aeronautics and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), were not spared. The cyberattack has also compromised over 2,500 surveillance cameras across India.
Adding to the concern, sensitive data from the Indian Air Force and the Maharashtra Election Commission has also been leaked online.
This breach raises serious concerns about cybersecurity preparedness and data protection in India’s key institutions. Authorities are currently investigating the full extent of the damage, while cybersecurity experts warn of further potential risks if such systems are not strengthened. The situation continues to develop as more details emerge.
