Shafqat Ali Appointed Canada’s First Pakistani Origin Federal Minister

Shafqat Ali has made history by becoming the first Canadian federal minister of Pakistani origin. He was recently appointed as the President of the Treasury Board by Prime Minister Mark Carney. This is a major milestone, not only for Shafqat Ali personally but also for the Pakistani-Canadian community.

Shafqat Ali has been elected twice as the Member of Parliament for Brampton Centre. Over the years, he has earned the respect and trust of his colleagues and community. He expressed deep gratitude for the confidence placed in him and shared that he is honored to take on this important responsibility.

Prime Minister Mark Carney made some changes to the federal cabinet, reducing its size from 39 members to 29. Despite the reduction, he chose to keep many experienced ministers in their roles and selected new faces like Shafqat Ali to help lead the country forward.

Shafqat Ali’s story is one of hard work and dedication. He came to Canada as an immigrant and started out as an entrepreneur. Through determination and service to his community, he entered public life and has now reached one of the highest positions in the federal government.

He said he is excited to start this new chapter and is fully committed to helping implement the government’s programs to improve the lives of all Canadians. His journey reflects the strength of Canada’s diversity and the opportunities the country offers to those who work hard and serve with integrity.
