The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has confirmed that the Zil Hajj moon was not sighted in any part of Pakistan. This means the Islamic month of Zil Hajj will begin on Thursday, May 30, 2025.
As a result, Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on Friday, June 7, 2025, across the country. This occasion holds great religious importance for Muslims, as it commemorates the devotion and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was ready to give up his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
To remember this act of faith, Muslims perform Qurbani the sacrifice of animals such as goats, cows, or camels and share the meat with family, friends, and those in need. The day also begins with special Eid prayers, which are held in mosques and open spaces, bringing communities together in worship.
Eid-ul-Adha is also a time of celebration and unity. People wear new clothes, exchange greetings, visit relatives, and enjoy traditional meals. Many families start preparing for the festival days in advance, including purchasing sacrificial animals and planning charitable activities.
With the date now confirmed, livestock markets are expected to become more active, and arrangements for Eid festivities will pick up pace across the country. The government is also likely to announce public holidays closer to the event to allow citizens to celebrate with their families.
In the coming days, Muslims will observe the early days of Zil Hajj through prayer, reflection, and acts of kindness before welcoming the joyous occasion of Eid.
