Public Holiday Announced in Punjab District

The district of Vehari will observe a public holiday on Friday, July 11, as announced by local authorities. The holiday has been declared in light of the annual Urs celebrations of the revered Sufi saint, Baba Haji Sher Diwan.

The decision was officially confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Imrana Tauqeer, who stated that all government offices in the district will remain closed for the day. However, students preparing for board and university exams should note that their scheduled papers will take place as planned without any changes.

The Urs celebrations are expected to attract a large number of visitors from different parts of Punjab and beyond. With spiritual gatherings, cultural performances, and traditional rituals taking place, the event holds great religious and cultural significance for the region.

To ensure smooth conduct of the festivities, essential services such as hospitals, sanitation teams, and emergency response units will continue to operate. The administration has also directed all concerned departments to ensure crowd control, traffic flow, and public safety.

Special security measures and logistical plans have been set in motion, with additional staff deployed to manage the increased number of visitors. Volunteers and law enforcement officers will be stationed at key points around the Urs venue.
