Fuel Prices Likely to Increase Again? Know New Prices Here!

Motorists in Pakistan may soon feel another pinch at the pump as the government prepares to review fuel prices once again. According to local reports, the next adjustment could see petrol and diesel become slightly more expensive, though there may be some relief for users of kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO).

Early estimates suggest that petrol could cost up to Rs. 6.60 more per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) might see an increase of around Rs. 5.27 per litre. On the brighter side, kerosene oil might become cheaper by Rs. 3.74 per litre, and LDO could go down by Rs. 2.23 per litre, offering a small break for households and industries that rely on these fuels.

The proposed new prices have been prepared after looking at the recent ups and downs in global oil rates. A final summary will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office for approval. If given the green light by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the new prices will be made public by the Ministry of Finance and stay in effect for the next 15 days.

Earlier this month, on July 1, the government had already pushed up petrol rates by Rs. 8.36 per litre, taking the price to nearly Rs. 267 per litre. High-speed diesel went up too, adding extra cost for transporters and businesses across the country.

People are now waiting to see if the new changes will bring more pressure on their wallets or offer any relief at all. The final announcement is expected soon, so consumers are advised to plan ahead for the possible changes.
