Former captain Babar Azam might make a comeback to Pakistan’s T20 International (T20I) squad ahead of the upcoming tri-nation series and the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025, according to sources familiar with the matter. However, his return is not confirmed yet and will depend on how well he performs in the current One Day International (ODI) series against the West Indies. The selectors are closely watching his form and fitness before making a final decision.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of both the T20I and ODI matches due to an injury he picked up during the recent T20I series. As a result, he has been advised to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore for rehabilitation and treatment. His recovery will be monitored by medical staff, and at this stage, it is still unclear whether he will be fit in time to participate in the Asia Cup later this year.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is expected to make official announcements about the final squad after reviewing players’ performances and injury updates.
