The Supreme Court of Pakistan has granted bail to former Prime Minister Imran Khan in eight different cases connected to the events of May 9. The decision was made by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.
During the hearing, the bench carefully reviewed the evidence presented. It was observed that while some important tests and investigations had been officially approved, they were never carried out. This raised questions about the way the cases were being handled.
Imran Khan’s legal team also explained his current situation in the courts. They pointed out that he is already facing several legal proceedings, and in some cases, his position and involvement were still not clearly established.
His counsel stressed that many charges lacked strong evidence and requested fair treatment under the law.
After listening to arguments from both sides, the Supreme Court concluded that granting bail was the appropriate step.
The court ordered Khan’s release in all eight cases, giving him temporary relief from detention. However, the cases will continue, and he will still have to appear before the courts whenever required.
This ruling is seen as an important development in Pakistan’s political and legal landscape. The May 9 incidents, which led to widespread unrest, continue to shape ongoing debates about accountability, law enforcement, and political rivalry in the country.
For now, the Supreme Court’s decision provides Imran Khan with a significant breather, though his legal journey is far from over as several other cases remain pending against him.
