The Chief Minister Punjab Green Credit Program is a new project launched by the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department to encourage people to take actions that help protect the environment. The idea behind the program is simple: when citizens take positive steps for the climate, they can earn rewards in the form of Green Credits.
Some of the activities that qualify for Green Credits include planting trees, recycling household waste, installing or using solar-powered appliances, and collecting rainwater through harvesting systems. By taking part in these eco-friendly practices, people can not only contribute to a cleaner and greener Punjab but also receive financial recognition for their efforts.
Each Green Credit has a value of PKR 10,000, and individuals have the opportunity to earn up to PKR 100,000 through the program. This makes it both an environmental and financial incentive, motivating citizens to actively participate in sustainable living.
At present, the program is running as a pilot project in Lahore. Once it proves successful, it will gradually be introduced in other parts of Punjab. The long-term goal is to inspire communities across the province to adopt sustainable habits and work together in the fight against climate change.
By linking personal actions with financial rewards, the initiative aims to create a culture of responsibility where every individual feels empowered to contribute toward building a healthier environment.
