There are Over 600,000 Mosques Across Pakistan

Pakistan is home to more than 600,000 mosques, according to the country’s first-ever economic census conducted by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. This number shows how deeply religion is rooted in the daily life, culture, and traditions of the nation.

Most of these mosques are found in Punjab, which highlights the province’s central role in providing places of worship and maintaining a strong religious presence. Alongside mosques, the census also recorded over 36,000 madrassas across Pakistan, reflecting the country’s large network of religious education where thousands of students receive Islamic learning.

The findings give a clearer picture of Pakistan’s spiritual and communal life. They show not only the importance of religion in people’s lives but also how widespread the facilities are that support prayer, worship, and education. This data is useful for understanding the social structure of the country and the role religion continues to play in shaping communities.
