Pakistan Railways has revealed plans for the country’s first bullet train, aiming to slash travel time between Lahore and Karachi from nearly 20 hours to just 5 by 2030
Traveling between Lahore and Karachi may soon become faster than ever. Pakistan Railways has shared plans for the country’s first bullet train, which will reduce the journey from almost 20 hours to only 5. The train is expected to be ready by the year 2030.
This high-speed project is part of the Main Line-1 (ML-1) upgrade under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It will be developed in partnership with Chinese companies, with modern technology and advanced safety systems.
The train is designed to run at speeds of around 250 km/h, covering a distance of over 1,200 kilometers with stops in major cities like Hyderabad, Multan, and Sahiwal.
What makes this project even more exciting is its affordability. Ticket prices are planned between PKR 5,000 and 10,000, much lower than the cost of a domestic flight, which often goes above PKR 20,000.
This means students, professionals, and families can enjoy a faster, safer, and more comfortable travel option without spending too much.
Officials believe that this bullet train will not only transform travel between Pakistan’s largest cities but also boost trade, tourism, and business across the country. By providing a modern alternative to road and air travel, it could become one of the most important transport projects in Pakistan’s history.
The launch of this bullet train marks the beginning of a new travel era faster, cheaper and more convenient journeys for everyone.
