Be Alert! Heavy Rainfall Expected in these areas of Pakistan Again

People across many regions of Pakistan are being advised to stay cautious as more rain and thunderstorms are expected in the coming days. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted fresh spells of rain starting from August 29, which will continue in different areas until September 2.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have issued a warning that heavy showers could cause flooding in low-lying districts and trigger landslides in hilly regions. The authority has also advised citizens to remain in touch with local administrations during the wet spell.

In Punjab, heavy rainfall is forecast in northern and northeastern areas on August 30 and 31, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Jhelum, and nearby districts. Central and southern Punjab will also see rain between August 29 and 31, with Multan, Bahawalpur, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan among the vulnerable areas.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, showers are likely from August 29 to 31, particularly in Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Dera Ismail Khan. Authorities have highlighted the possibility of landslides in Malakand and Hazara divisions.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to receive heavy rain. Areas like Muzaffarabad, Hunza, Gilgit, Skardu and Ghizer could experience landslides and even Glacial Lake Outburst Floods.

In Sindh, Karachi and coastal districts including Thatta, Badin, and Tharparkar may face urban flooding between August 30 and September 2. Meanwhile, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur and Dadu could also be affected by heavy downpours.

Balochistan is likely to receive rain in Gwadar, Kech, Khuzdar, Panjgur and Lasbela from August 29 to September 1, with warnings of flooding in low-lying regions.

The NDMA has assured that relief operations are on standby and necessary steps are being taken to handle any emergencies. Citizens are urged to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains and follow safety instructions from local authorities to protect themselves and their families.
