Karachi’s Faisal Sets Guinness World Record by Completing Sydney Marathon in Military Uniform to Honor Pakistan Army

Karachi’s Faisal Shafi has brought pride to Pakistan by setting a Guinness World Record at the Sydney Marathon 2025. He completed the full marathon distance of 42.195 km in just 3 hours and 40 minutes while dressed in a light military uniform.

This was not only a test of his strength but also a heartfelt tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces. Shafi said he wanted to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs and soldiers who dedicate their lives to protecting the nation.

This year’s Sydney Marathon was a historic event as it was officially included for the first time in the Abbott World Marathon Majors, which features the six most prestigious marathons in the world. Being part of this global platform made the achievement even more meaningful for Pakistan.

Faisal Shafi was not alone in representing the country. A group of 36 Pakistani runners also participated in the marathon, including 10 women.
