Pakistan has made a major discovery of gas reserves in its waters during a joint survey carried out by the Pakistan Navy in collaboration with China.
The findings have created new hope for the country’s energy future, as experts believe the reserves are extensive and could play a vital role in addressing Pakistan’s growing energy needs.
Former Rear Admiral Fawad Amin Baig shared details of the survey, saying that Pakistan’s seas are not only full of minerals but also contain vast energy resources that remain untapped.
However, he admitted that Pakistan currently does not have the technology or resources to extract these reserves on its own.
The survey has confirmed the presence of large underwater gas fields that are waiting to be explored. Baig stressed that it is important for Pakistan to attract investment and bring in modern technology to make use of this hidden potential.
He also expressed hope for the future, saying that with the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), backed by both military and political leadership, Pakistan is on the path to economic growth. According to him, these natural resources could help transform Pakistan into a stronger and more self-reliant economy.
This discovery comes shortly after reports of significant oil reserves in the country, raising expectations that Pakistan could gradually reduce its dependence on energy imports.
Experts believe that if properly developed, these resources can provide long-term benefits, strengthen the economy, and ensure energy security for future generations.
