Men Under 50 Cannot Get Pilgrimage Visa Alone Under New Iraq Visa Rules

According to a spokesperson from Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Iraq will no longer issue pilgrimage visas to men under the age of 50 if they are traveling alone. However, men below 50 years of age will still be eligible to apply for visas provided they are accompanied by their families.

Officials explained that these updated guidelines are designed to streamline the pilgrimage process and to ensure better arrangements and security at Iraq’s holy shrines. With millions of pilgrims visiting Iraq annually, especially during significant religious occasions, the new rules are aimed at maintaining order and facilitating smoother management of the large gatherings.

The Ministry has advised prospective pilgrims to carefully review the new requirements before applying for visas in order to avoid complications. Travel agencies organizing religious tours to Iraq have also been directed to update their guidelines in line with the Iraqi government’s policy.

The decision underscores Iraq’s efforts to balance the spiritual importance of pilgrimage with the practical need for safety, security, and efficient management of visitors to its revered religious sites.
