The government has announced the relaunch of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025, bringing a wave of relief for university and college students across Pakistan. Under this programme, thousands of laptops will be distributed free of cost to support young learners in their academic journey.
Officials said the scheme has been designed for students from families that cannot afford to buy laptops. By providing this facility, the government hopes to improve access to online classes, digital research and freelancing opportunities, enabling students to use their skills to support themselves and their families.
To make the process more transparent, an online verification system has been introduced. Students can log on to the official website laptop.pmyp.gov.pk, enter their CNIC number, select their university, and instantly check whether their application has been accepted, rejected or is still under review.
However, the government has advised applicants to be extra careful while filling out their forms. The most common reasons for rejection include:
- Incorrect or invalid CNIC numbers
- Inactive phone numbers or email addresses
- Missing or outdated academic records
- Multiple submissions from the same CNIC
Students are required to submit all relevant documents, such as a valid CNIC or B-Form, proof of enrollment, latest transcript, and updated personal details in the university database.
In case of delays or problems, students can approach their university focal person or contact the PM Youth Programme helpline. Education authorities have urged students to keep their contact information updated to avoid missing any important notifications.
This scheme is being seen as an important step toward reducing the digital gap and empowering the country’s youth with modern tools for education and employment.
